Information Technology Asset and Service Management (IT-ASM)

PROBLEM:

This product is a web application which applies ITIL and ITSM principles (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IT_service_management). The software was a legacy system that needed to be upgraded and maintained. The problem was accentuated by the fact that there was one released product version and several versions of code, configuration files and DBMS data. Thus at first it was necessary to review the code, make new release out of existing components and prepare the development plans.

SOLUTION:

SimbirSoft Ltd. divided IT-ASM software outsourcing into 3 stages:

  • The first stage.
  • Refactoring of the code, making new release out of existing components. This stage lasted four months.
  • The second stage.
  • Debugging. This stage lasted three months.
  • The third stage.
  • Client –side application installation and migration from the old client-side version to the new one designed by SimbirSoft Ltd. The stage has been implemented successfully, and additions are still in process.

IT-ASM applies ITSM principles (ITIL subsets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Technology_Infrastructure_Library) which means process approach to IT service delivery and support. This software is OpenSource –oriented what makes it remarkably low-cost.
